Long-time Shell executive David Lawrence possesses more than 30 years of experience in the energy sector. Most recently an executive vice president with Shell Upstream Americas, David Lawrence now lends his knowledge and expertise to various nonprofits as well as to professional and business interests. Currently, he serves as a trustee associate of the AAPG Foundation, an organization that supports the geologic profession through various programs and activities.
In its efforts to advance the field of geology, the AAPG Foundation conducts a number of educational programs for students and educators in elementary, middle, and high school, as well as those in colleges and universities. Each year, the Foundation helps host several annual meetings for geology students and teachers and provides grants and scholarships for individuals who are conducting geologic research or pursuing degrees in the geology.
Currently, the Foundation funds several scholarship programs, including one for military veterans. In recent years, many veterans have returned to civilian life. The Foundation hopes to encourage some of these highly trained men and women to pursue careers in the oil and gas industry through its Military Veterans Scholarship Program, which provides financial and career support for veterans studying geoscience.
